Regardless of your particular spiritual or religious belief system, for most it is undeniable common sense that somehow, in some way, everything is connected with everything else – that there is a source within the Universe from which all things flow.

Thoughts are energy. Each thought that you have has a direct effect on your physical reality. You may find this concept hard to accept at first, especially if it is new to you.

Most of us go through our lives feeling as if we are at the mercy of external events – we believe that things ‘happen to us.’ We find ourselves in situations not of our own choosing, people treat us unfairly, or life itself treats us unfairly.

But what I have come to believe, to know really, is that things don’t just happen to us. Virtually every event and every aspect of our lives, whether we consider it good or bad, is exactly what we have requested the Universe to bring into our lives.

What ‘happens’ to us is the direct result of and the manifestation of what we focus on.

The Law of Attraction is perhaps one of the most difficult life principles to accept, because by doing so you are accepting that you are truly in control of your life – that where you are right now, your life experience, is the direct result of your own thoughts and actions.

You are accepting full responsibility for your life. It’s not our parents’ fault, it’s not “luck” and it’s not “fate.” We each make a choice at every moment of every day what we will attract or allow into our lives.

Where you are right now is not necessarily good or bad – it just is. The Universe doesn’t have an opinion on what you choose to draw into your life. It simply delivers to you what you consciously or unconsciously choose.

When I first discovered how to effectively apply these principles, I decided to do a little experiment. It was this experiment that convinced me of the AWESOME POWER of these principles..

I had made some poor financial decisions, and my attitude was one where I was focused almost completely on the ‘lack’ in my life. For example, when someone would ask me what I was up to with my work lately, I would reply with something like, “Oh, things aren’t going very well right now,” or “It’s been like Murphy’s Law lately.”

I would look at my pile of bills, my list of debts, and think to myself, or even say to friends something like, “I can’t pay this or that bill,” or “There’s no way out,” or “I’m just unlucky.”

What I was really doing without realizing it, by focusing on what I did not want, by focusing on what I was lacking, was perpetuating the situation and continually attracting those things that I did not want into my life. So, I decided to try a little experiment based upon some things I had been reading about the Universal Law of Attraction.

I made a list of all of my upcoming bills and expenses that I felt I was in danger of having trouble meeting. When all was said and done, I came to the conclusion that I really needed at least $13,000 to get myself back to a place where I could see light at the end of the tunnel again.

I then began applying the principles to my situation. The first thing I did, was to write down the following on a notepad and set it aside:

“I am grateful for all that I have and all that I am. I desire to have at least $13,000 to come into my life. What I desire is already on its way.”

And that’s how my journey started. By effectively applying the principles I had learned, within 5 weeks I had a series of ‘windfalls’ totalling over $15,000. And that was just the beginning…

The power within you which enables you to form a thought picture is the starting point of all there is. In its original state it is the undifferentiated formless substance of life. Your thought picture forms the mould (so to speak) into which this formless substance takes shape. Visualizing, or mentally seeing things and conditions as you wish them to be, is the condensing, the specializing power in you that might be illustrated by the lens of a magic lantern. The magic lantern is one of the best symbols of this imaging faculty. It illustrates the working of the Creative Spirit on the plane of the initiative and selection (or in its concentrated specializing form) in a remarkably clear manner.

This picture slide illustrates your own mental picture -invisible in the lantern of your mind until you turn on the light of your will. That is to say, you light up your desire with absolute faith that the Creative Spirit of Life, in you, is doing the work. By the steady flow of light of the will on the Spirit, your desired picture is projected upon the screen of the physical world, an exact reproduction of the pictured slide in your mind.

Visualizing without a will sufficiently steady to inhibit every thought and feeling contrary to your picture would be as useless as a magic lantern without the light. On the other hand, if your will is sufficiently developed to hold your picture in thought and feeling, without any “ifs,” simply realizing that your thought is the great attracting power, then your mental picture is as certain to be projected upon the screen of your physical world as any pictured slide put into the best magic lantern ever made.

Try projecting the picture in a magic lantern with a light that is constantly shifting from one side to the other, and you will have the effect of an uncertain will. It is as necessary that you should always stand back of your picture with a strong, steady will, as it is to have a strong steady light back of a picture slide.

The joyous assurance with which you make your picture is the very powerful magnet of Faith, and nothing can obliterate it. You are happier than you ever were, because you have learned to know where your source of supply is, and you rely upon its never-failing response to your given direction.

When all said and done, happiness is the one thing which every human being wants, and the study of visualization enables you to get more out of life than you ever enjoyed before. Increasing possibilities keep opening out, more and more, before you.

A business man once told me that since practicing visualization and forming the habit of devoting a few minutes each day to thinking about his work as he desired it to be in a large, broad way, his business had more than doubled in six months. His method was to go into a room every morning before breakfast and take a mental inventory of his business as he had left it the evening before, and then enlarge upon it. He said he expanded and expanded in this way until his affairs were in remarkably successful condition. He would see himself in his office doing everything that he wanted done. His occupation required him to meet many strangers every day. In his mental picture he saw himself meeting these people, understanding their needs and supplying them in just the way they wished. This habit, he said, had strengthened and steadied his will in an almost inconceivable manner. Furthermore, by thus mentally seeing things as he wished them to be, he had acquired the confident feeling that a certain creative power was exercising itself, for him and through him, for the purpose of improving his little world.

When you first begin to visualize seriously, you may feel, as many others do, that someone else may be forming the same picture you are, and that naturally would not suit your purpose. Do not give yourself any unnecessary concern about this. Simply try to realize that your picture is an orderly exercise of the Universal Creative Power specifically applied. Then you may be sure that no one can work in opposition to you. The universal law of harmony prevents this. Endeavor to bear in mind that your mental picture is Universal Mind exercising its inherent powers of initiative and selection specifically.

God, or Universal Mind, made man for the special purpose of differentiating Himself through him. Everything that is, came into existence in this same way, by this self-same law of self-differentiation, and for the same purpose. First the idea, the mental picture or the prototype of the thing, which is the thing itself in its incipiency or plastic form.

The Great Architect of the Universe contemplated Himself as manifesting through His polar opposite, matter, and the idea expanded and projected itself until we have a world -many worlds.

Many people ask, “But why should we have a physical world at all?” The answer is: Because it is the nature of originating substance to solidify, under directivity rather than activity, just as it is the nature of wax to harden when it becomes cold, or plaster of paris to become firm and solid when exposed to the air. Your picture in this same Divine substance in its fluent state taking shape through the individualized center of Divine operation, your mind; and there is no power to prevent this combination of spiritual substance from becoming physical form. It is the nature of Spirit to complete its work and an idea is not complete until it has made for itself a vehicle.

Nothing can prevent your picture from coming into concrete form except the same power that gave it birth – yourself. Suppose you wish to have a more orderly room. You look about your room and the idea of order suggests boxes, closets, shelves, hooks and so forth. The box, the closet, the hooks, all are concrete ideas of order. Vehicles through which order and harmony suggest themselves.

If you’re thinking, “why am I stuck in this poverty stricken state of affairs over and over every day”, then the universal law of attraction will definitely pick up on your thought pattern. The energy you attract will just bring you more poverty.
However, with just a slight change in your thinking — and your talking — you could be attracting the abundance that you really want.
You just need to know how to use the universal law of attraction, and just as importantly, (and this is what many people forget)how to think so the law of attraction will bring what you want into your life.
If you want abundance in your life, create an affirmation. Something like;
“I intend to attract abundance in every way into my life.” This sure beats your old affirmation of;
“Why am I living in poverty every day.”
Then,start thinking abundance. Engage your imagination to try to see things another way, imagine you are living in the life you desire. Engage your imaginary senses to touch, taste, smell and feel the life you want. You’ll soon find yourself doing little things and noticing things that will help you to create abundance. Thanks to the law of attraction, you’ll be meeting people who will be able to help you create the life you desire.
Just give the universal laws of attraction a chance to work. Try to put aside all that negativity and start saturating yourself with positive thoughts and hopes.
For example you might [un]consciously be thinking “I’m no good with money” – is that true? How do you feel saying something like;
“Money comes to me easily” or “I am an excellent manager of my finances”? Is there some sort of dissonance when you say that to yourself?…. It just means there’s some work to be done on your attitude to money.
Jim Rohn says that “affirmation without discipline is the beginning of delusion”, so, if you’re going to start a new thought – make sure you follow through on your affirmation. Taking the money example – maybe you could take notes of how you spend your money and compare that to your pre-set budget, or reward yourself for saving 2% of your income- small steps that lead to big rewards-EVENTUALLY!
Then you’ll see things working for you!
Patience is the keyword you need to remember when you’re working with the law of attraction. Just because you send out all these wonderful thoughts on attracting more money into your life or a better job, a happier marriage, even a less grumpy spouse, it doesn’t mean you’ll get all this overnight.
The law of attraction does not use FedEx, or UPS, to deliver your thoughts. There’s no overnight delivery guarantee. You are guaranteed, though, that if you really are re-aligning your thoughts and actions to produce your desires that the law of attraction will
react to this. It may take longer than a day, a week or even a month, depending on what you desire.
The key to understanding and getting the most mileage out of the law of attraction is a single word:
Faith
Have faith that the universe delivers in its own time. Okay, so it may be a little slow like the US post office but it will deliver.
The problem is that often we give up believing that the law of attraction even exists. We randomly, even carelessly toss our thoughts out there hoping that somehow they’ll find their way in the maze of other energy floating around in the universe.
In dealing with the universal laws of attraction, we fail to put any muscle behind our thoughts and our desires. We need to put the muscle of intention behind them. We need to buff up our desires with a single-minded focus that won’t allow our thoughts to get lost in the universe.
While the universal laws of attraction may not use an overnight delivery service, they will indeed deliver, if you do your part too!

Build Wealth Step #2:  Make a Plan – This seems obvious and pedestrian, I know.  But it works.  Start thinking in an expansive way.  What could you take on right now, in addition to your normal job if you don’t want to quit right away, that would enable you to use your talents and make money?  Brainstorm and then write down a plan.  I’ve found that learning from experts is very valuable here.  I’ve taken on several projects that I received in-depth training for, for which my expert provided the action steps.  This made my Step #2 easy.  I had a ready made plan developed by an expert.

 

Build Wealth Step #3:  Follow Your Plan – Again, this is not new.  But this is the step that most people fall down on.  Many people don’t get started, or they begin and they give up after several days of “work”.  Then they complain that the plan didn’t work.  Actually, many plans work, most people don’t.

 

If you arrange your plan in a way that gives you daily actions to produce, you’ll be able to manage following your plan every day.  It may be rocky at first, but hang in there.  Most people will schedule too much to do in a day and then they can’t maintain the pace for more than a few days before things start to fall apart.  So hone down your daily list into something that is challenging, but do-able. 

 

Work you plan and your plan will work.  Expect ups and downs.  But through it all, you’ll find that you have bigger and better ideas as you follow your plan and you’ll build more wealth than you could have imagined.

Create Wealth Step #2:  Start Taking Action & Structure Your Plan to Fit into Daily Actions – You can’t manage a whole project.  Instead, manage your actions.  Instead of listing, “Start wealth project” on your daily list, write an action such as, “Make three telephone calls prospecting for clients”.  If you sit down to work and you have a set of actions to take, you’ll be efficient and you’ll make progress.

Create Wealth Step #3:  Ride the Ups and Downs and Keep Going – This is the most important step.  Getting better at business, for most of us, requires that we grow personally to handle blocks to progress.  We have to develop the discipline and focus needed to create things of value.  When we create value, we create wealth.

But it is difficult to create value when we lack consistent follow-through and creative thinking.  All of these things come with time when we’re sticking to our plan.  Really, business is not difficult.  Remaining calm, resourceful, and creative are the big challenges.

Here’s a great parable on how you can use the universal law of attraction in your life.
There was a gentleman, let’s call him George, who was going through a tough financial streak. One day there was a knock at the door and, by the time he answered it, the caller had vanished. All that was left was a crate of lemons.
Now George had never heard about the universal law of attraction. But he did know that if you add enough ingredients to lemons, you can make lemonade. It happened that he had just enough money in his pocket for the ingredients, and, with an ‘Attitude of Gratitude’ for the ‘free’ lemons, he set about the task.
Shortly, he set up a lemonade stand at the local County Fair selling the lemonade he made with the anonymous lemon gift. His stand was very popular and many enquiries followed, soon the law of attraction had opened up a range of opportunities for him to pursue.
So, even though George was not ‘consciously’ applying the law of attraction, his actions brought about a series of circumstances that helped him out of his dire circumstances, because he was open to the possibilities around him.
Yes, the universal laws of attraction were good to George.
Do you see how simple it can be to use the law in your life to create an exciting future, one that you can be proud of? And do you also see how easily those same laws of attraction, if not used wisely can attract things you don’t want into your life?
If you begin to be thankful for everything that comes your way in life, the universal law of attraction will sense this newfound gratefulness and begin to provide you with more reasons to be thankful.
This translates into the law of attraction providing you with more of the better things in life, as defined by you. The law will do nothing more in your life than offer the circumstances that you’re thinking of.
Even if you’re given some form of wealth -money- jewelry-a car-, even a tiny bit, but don’t accept it with an air of gratitude, then the universal law of attraction naturally assumes it’s not what you really wanted, and will not deliver more. The law is going to assume -rightly or wrongly – that you really didn’t want that wealth in the first place, and you will know poverty once again.
However, if you accept even that little bit of wealth with sincere gratitude, knowing that if given more, it will accumulate, then the law of attraction is going to bring even more wealth your way.
It might not happen overnight, but rest assured that eventually the universal law of attraction will recognize your sincere gratitude and begin to bring more wealth your way. The law of attraction doesn’t work just for wealth; you can put these amazing universal laws of attraction to work for you in your relationships, in attaining joy, in your career in absolutely every endeavor in your life.
There is not an aspect of your life that is not governed by the law of attraction. That’s why it’s best to take heed to the ancient wisdom: “In all good things give thanks.” This is the surest way to make the law of attraction work in all aspects of your life.

The dictionary defines wealth as:

1. [n] – the state of being rich and affluent

2. [n] – an abundance of material possessions and resources

3. [n] – property that has economic utility: a monetary value or an exchange value

4. [n] – the quality of profuse abundance

None of those definitions sound too bad, right?  The quality of profuse abundance -   I like that definition!

However, wealth as it is defined in the dictionary is only a small aspect of such a grand and often controversial word.

The definition of wealth can be quite divisive. Ask your family and friends how they define wealth and then sit back and enjoy the conversation!  Ask any political candidate how they define wealth and you’ll get vastly different answers.

There is of course the capitalist definition of wealth which states that all wealth is earned, not distributed.

Conversely, socialism states that there is a more equitable distribution of wealth and wealth is better shared.

That being said, all political theories and ideologies aside, we know deep down at our core that there is more to ‘wealth’ than dollars in the bank.

Consider the following quotes:

“Wealth is the ability to fully experience life.”-Henry David Thoreau

“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. In your soul are infinitely precious things that cannot be taken from you.”-Oscar Wilde

“Being rich is having money; being wealthy is having time”-Margaret Bonnano

So wealth is:- Having time- Having health- Having quality of life- Possessing freedom- Finding inspiration- Having peace of mind- Wealth is having compassion- Being loved- Loving

- And of course money in the bank – how much money in the bank is defined by you.

And so on and so on.

I’d argue that wealth, true wealth, may be a combination of all of these things.

Wealth, when it is defined as more than simply dollars in the bank, when it is defined as quality of life, health, peace of mind and all of those things that do often come with financial security is a fine and wonderful thing.  However, each attribute of wealth i.e. peace of mind, time, passion and dollars in the bank can be at risk if one focuses one attribute to the exclusion of all others.

For example if you live solely to have more money, you’ll inevitably lose time, quality of life, and quite frequently your health.

It’s a fine tightrope to walk.

Do you focus on earning money to support a better quality of life, to have more time and so on?

Or

Do you focus on quality of life and have faith that the money will follow?

It’s the whole success before meaning or meaning before success question.

Success before meaning.

There’s a well established school of thought which dictates that you work hard, you earn a good living, build a good life and then reap the rewards of your hard work.  There are various scenarios this may entail.

For many it may entail spending 20 years working a 9-5 desk job, living frugally and saving as much money as possible.  The reward is then quitting or retiring and living the life you’ve always wanted to live.  Whether that means traveling, spending your days in your garden or workshop or starting that small business you’ve always wanted to start.

This is the place that many people come from.  They spend their lives focused on the goal of achieving financial success and freedom.

While setting and achieving goals is a great thing, the problem with this mindset is:

1. One forgets to enjoy life while it’s happening and waits to enjoy it at some future date.

2. That date may never come

Meaning before success.

Another school of thought follows the path of doing what they love and hoping or trusting that wealth will follow.

Those who follow this school of thought believe that the goal to success starts with finding a business or trade you’re passionate about.  Passion and desire breed wealth.

While it’s true that passion for your business or trade will bring about day to day quality of life, satisfaction and contentment – financial wealth isn’t a given.  In fact there are many people who are barely getting by who absolutely love what they do.

Another option?

I propose that there is actually a third approach to obtaining wealth without sacrificing quality of life.

Starting an internet based business, yes even in today’s economy, can provide the kind of lifestyle and complete wealth you’re seeking.

Starting an internet based business, while it takes a bit of time at the outset to get a business up and running, once it’s established and you’ve automated as much as you can humanly automate and delegated the rest – the profits are in your pocket and you’ve as much free time as you can humanly stand.  Time to live the life you’re dreaming of but instead of dreaming it, you’re actually living it.

Time to pursue your passions.  Yes, this third option means the business you start doesn’t have to be something you’re passionate about.  You can make your business your passion, however it’s not mandatory.  You can in fact sell t-shirts online, make a mint, and not give a hoot about t-shirts.

Timothy Ferriss talks at length on this in his book “The 4-Hour Workweek”.

The concept is defined as the new rich or NR as he calls them.  It’s the idea that it doesn’t have to be success versus meaning or wealth versus poverty or freedom versus being chained to a desk 9-5.  Life, and wealth, can be defined by you.

Starting an internet based business isn’t as simple as setting up a website and watching the profits roll in.  There’s a process.  There’s a science behind profiting online.  It begins with specialized knowledge.

THERE are two kinds of knowledge. One is general, the other is specialized. General knowledge, no matter how great in quantity or variety it may be, is of but little use in the accumulation of money.-Napoleon Hill

Mr. Hill also goes on to say in Chapter Five of Think and Grow Rich, KNOWLEDGE will not attract money, unless it is organized, and intelligently directed, through practical PLANS OF ACTION, to the DEFINITE END of accumulation of money.

Now specialized knowledge is something you can possess, like knowing how to take apart and put back together a 1964 Ford Mustang blindfolded.  It is also something you can purchase or acquire.

You can obtain specialized knowledge by:

- Participating in a mastermind group, hiring a coach, or finding a mentor.

- Going to school or getting specialized training

- Reading everything ever published on the topic including participating in forums and chat rooms on your chosen topic.

As we move through life and make our choices it’s nice to know that there are options. You can choose to live your life pursuing financial wealth at the expense of the other gems life has to offer, you can choose to pursue health, art and happiness at the expense of financial wealth or you can decide that you deserve both.  You can decide that the world and its abundance are available to you.

The internet makes it easier than ever before.  It gives you access to specialized knowledge and wonderful tools which enable you to automate almost every process and system required to run a successful and profitable business.
